Children’s glasses
Children eyes are more fragile as adults’ ones. Their crystalline lens is indeed very vulnerable : it doesn’t filter the UV rays before the age of 10-12. Moreover, children are more exposed to solar radiances than adults, because, they spend more time outside, in the playground or on sports grounds.
It is also essential to propose to the juniors spectacle lenses with a good UV protection and so to choose the adapted material. The solidity of the lens is also an important criterion, to avoid the child to break their lenses or to hurt in case of impact. The anti-reflective coating, super hydrophobic is an essential option to preserve lenses from dirt and to optimize the child’s vision.
Materials recommended to children are the following ones :
- A 1.6 index is much tougher than a standard 1.5 index and generally integrate a 100 % UV cut, offering a good optical quality
- Polycarbonate : ultra impact resistant and 100% UV protective.
